/Unmarried Parents Seeking Custody
Generally when unmarried parents need custody and/or visitation orders, self-help programs will direct them to prepare a Request for Order (FL-300).
Great idea.
Except, your case will only get a quick 20 minutes in front of the judge, maybe 40 minutes if you have an evidentiary hearing.
If this is the FIRST TIME you are requesting custody/visitation order your case deserves a more in-depth review and you should make a “REQUEST FOR TRIAL SETTING”, see local Los Angeles County Form here
Please keep in mind you should exchange preliminary declarations of disclosure first and send any preliminary discovery request prior to filing your trial setting request with the court.
Finally, if you need orders immediately use an emergency request for order.
